Shelton Park Elementary School

Shelton Park Elementary School is a
58,000 square foot, 55 year old,
one-story school that required extensive
modernization and additions.
The building is constructed of load
bearing masonry walls with bonded
brick veneer. Roof construction
consists of built up flat roof over
metal deck or tectum and bar joists.
The project consisted of
renovating the entire existing school
and adding approximately
30,000 square feet of new construction. The additions included new
classrooms, an administration wing, and support spaces. The existing
spaces were modified to incorporate new finishes, building systems,
and communications systems. Renovation work included roof repairs,
structural repairs, ADA compliance, and fire protection systems.
Design started in April 1998 and construction commenced in
June 1999.
