Tidewater Community College Campus Wayfinding + Signage
Client: Virginia Community College System

3 campuses :: $225,000

As a suburban-style campus with a commuter-based student
population, campus entries lacked sufficient identification
and clear wayfinding. Contextual aspects of the physical
environment visible to the public include campus entries, open
spaces, the buildings that frame them, and vistas off
campus from Princess Anne Road at the south end of the
lake. Enhanced campus identifiers from this off-campus
vantage point was a must. Strong graphic campus entry
statements and information gathering opportunities would set
the campus apart from its surrounding residential setting. The
TCC logo is an abstraction of a turquoise colored banner
symbolizing the Tidewater region. This became a natural parti
setting the course for the project design direction, detailing,
and graphics that followed, creating added depth and
continuity for the overall image development for the college.
